The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is on September 8: that is not the real birthday of Our Lady because we do not have authoritative information about the real date. Indeed The Church celebrated The Nativity of Mary in September since the V century.

Other Names for the Feast

The other names of the Feast are the Nativity of Mary, the Marymas, the Birth of the Virgin Mary and the Virgin Mary’s Birthday

My funny memory about Marymas

I’d like to share one of my funny memories about the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. Above all, I really love the Feast since I was a young child. In particular, I especially loved the midnight fireworks from the bell tower.

I can tell you a silly story about that: once during these fireworks to celebrate the Nativity of Mary in my country village, some people said:

Now they are going to blow up the bell tower indeed

Hence, I spent about 6 years of my childhood feeling sorry for that poor priest who had to rebuild the bell tower every year!

Happy Birthday, Mary!

The Birth of Mary is really important because it is a prelude to the Coming of Christ: now you know how to say Happy Birthday, Mary!
